What is SAAT in Oakland

Allergies can significantly impact a person's quality of life. Symptoms can be bothersome and uncomfortable, affecting sleep, concentration, and overall well-being. Allergy sufferers might also need to make adjustments to their routines to avoid allergens, such as staying indoors during high pollen seasons or avoiding certain foods.

There are multiple ways how Western medicine approaches allergies treatment but most of them are cumbersome, risky, and chances for a positive outcome are low.

Some acupuncture techniques along with herbal medicine offer various methods that may help reduce the allergy symptoms and at times even eliminate the symptoms but most of the time it’s temporary.

SAAT (Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment) is a newly introduced (about 15 years) powerful technique that provides the longest relief from allergy symptoms compared to any other acupuncture or Western medicine methods.

In this approach, a single needle is inserted into the ear to stop allergic reactions caused by a specific allergen. The SAAT technique is recommended for treating various types of allergies, including those triggered by things like environmental factors, food, medications, and toxins. It's also effective in addressing conditions like Alpha Gal allergy and mast cell activation syndrome.

How it is done in our office

  1. You can choose to have your first consultation either online or in person. This session will last around 15-20 minutes. During this meeting, you have the opportunity to inquire about the procedure and its process. Additionally, it's important to have your allergy tests prepared for assessment. This will help us determine the availability of a required homeopathic vial. No treatment or testing is done during the consultation.
  2. During your next appointment, we’ll validate your sensitivity to the allergen using the vial and muscle testing. Subsequently, we'll determine the precise location in your ear where needle treatment for that specific allergen is required. This location will be pinpointed by identifying the most electrically conductive point in your ear using a specialized volt meter. The needle employed for this procedure is exceedingly small, measuring a mere 3mm in length and thinner than a strand of hair (see the picture below). Once inserted, it will be covered with surgical glue and a small piece of medical adhesive tape. The needle remains in place for a duration of 3 to 4 weeks, after which it can be removed. Ideally, you should return to our office for the removal process.
  3. If you opt to visit our office for the removal of the needle, we will perform a follow-up test specifically targeting the allergies treated in the prior session. This extra assessment will be given at no cost.
  4. Should you continue to experience symptoms upon your return, even though the treated allergy has cleared, we may need to schedule another appointment to investigate the potential presence of additional allergies. During a single visit, we have the capacity to address up to four allergens.

If symptoms persist after treatment, it's plausible that there may be another unidentified and untreated allergy responsible for your discomfort. This aspect is particularly significant when dealing with Alpha-Gal, as well as environmental and outdoor allergies.
